K45. Lullaby for Mom

For String Ensemble, Large or Small, plus optional Harp
  • Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello, Bass
  • Harp (optional)
Performance Time: 3:52

Lullaby for Mom was commissioned to honor Mother's Day at its May 1, 2016, premiere by the Nevada School of the Arts Chamber Orchestra, Charles Cushinery conducting. An MPEG-4 video of the premiere may be downloaded below. Dedicated to my mother, Shirley Lorraine Krein, the lullaby is appropriately sweet and sentimental and perfect for Mother's Day.

While the harp is optional for this piece, two harp parts are provided: one with fingerings and hand placements and one without. The fingerings and hand placement marks are courtesy of noted harpist, Dr. Shirley Meyer Blankenship—thank you Shirley.

Bowings for violin and viola were provided by Lisa Ratigan—thank you Lisa.

All performances of this work private or public are granted free without royalties. If you decide to perform the work, I would love to hear from you.
